It happened around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 8 eastbound near Exit 35 in Babylon.
The driver, Nancy Brady, age 58, of West Sayville, was traveling eastbound, in a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica, on the Southern State Parkway when her vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree and caught on fire, state police said.
Two Good Samaritans, Christine and Karl Ott of Sayville, observed the severity of the situation, jumped into action and removed Brady from the burning vehicle, said police.
Brady was transported by Suffolk County Police Helicopter to Stony Brook Hospital for her injuries.
The collision is still under investigation and the state police is asking for witness or anyone with any information to call 631-756-3300.
